"Homemakers" or housewives in layman's language have continued to mesmerize me for years now. I loved the word which I had first heard from Derek O'Brien on the BQC in the 90s and the respect for the same has grown ever since!
In this speedy world where you got to have a degree to stamp your prowess , our moms - the homemakers just steal the show by their sheer simplicity in getting our lives on track!Right from handling the whims and fancies of her husband , to rearing the nuisance filled kids , to keeping the home worth exhibition , they do a fantastic job . Think about it - she is the one who always compromises on her needs and happiness to ensure that all the family members have got their stomachs and hearts filled at the end of the day!
The ease with which she can handle any situation without loosing her composure is simply mind-blowing. I have seen my mother multi-task and that too with utmost ease - handling the meals in the kitchen , watching the housemaid , preparing tea for the guests , asking about the whereabouts of the family of the guest as well as ensuring that the "sometimes unwanted guest" doesn't freak my dad off!!
Her decisiveness in all the policy making decisions just makes me wonder of the money people spent in getting a degree to boast of the same effect - all probably farce !
Paying a visit to the neighbour in times of distress , deciding on gifts for the relatives at the time of festivities , inviting dad's collegues and my friends over for dinner -- all play a big role in maintaing the social circle!
She invariably played a big role imbibing values deep into me and modelling me the right way , something that the foundation I base myself upon.
Our moms play a pivotal role for our fathers who generally need that due to the office woes or probably freak out at times simply cos they are guys ;)
One woman who achieves so much - all for her family ! She is probably one of the most undervalued, ill-payed and taken for granted "resource" on this planet! Running a home and making that kinda difference to the lives of so many is like running a successful startup for years - I bet our moms , the homemaker to the top echelon of the corporate world and she will create wonders !!
Between all this , are we - the kids or the society really appreciative of the homemakers , to whom we owe everything for shaping our careers and ourselves , not to forget the smooth ride we have had ....
Oh yes , before I forget I am really proud that my mom chose to be a homemaker , a really noble profession :)
P.S. If you are wondering why this note all of a sudden , it was just due .. it is never too late :)
